What fears have you overcome and how?
The fear that I had to overcome was truly challenging. Let me take you back to the Christmas Eve of 1981. It was a time when I was just 16 years old. On that fateful night, as my family and I arrived home, we noticed that the lights were on in the house, giving off a different vibe than when we had left. Proceeding through the back door, as I reached the top of the stairs and glanced into the kitchen, I was suddenly grabbed by someone pulling at my coat. Reacting swiftly, I managed to push myself backwards down the stairs and out the door, sprinting towards the car. Looking back, I saw that it was my dad.
From that night forward, it’s essential to conquer your fear of the night. Visualize a safe and secure environment, and take control of your space. Leverage the power of positive energy by ensuring the lights are on in your room and reinforcing your safety with barricades against any perceived threats. This proactive approach will empower you to reclaim your sense of security and conquer fear.
However, it was important for me to address the fear of night through therapy. Gradually, I took small steps towards overcoming it. First, I began by switching off the overhead light and relying on a lamp instead. Then, I slowly removed furniture blocking the door, allowing me to open it at night and venture into the rest of the apartment. Although I still used the lamp for comfort, around the eighth year of confronting this fear, I started to turn off the lights and grew more confident in the darkness. Overcoming the fear of being attacked outside at night took longer than I expected, but with the help of a supportive roommate, I was able to face this fear and gradually conquer it.
