  1.  Made Medium Silver and Ivory weighing 111 ounces. Tea Urn “Shape antique vessel with loop handles.” The is a crest etched in the center with the initials H.R.

2. The tea urn serves afternoon imported tea, coffee, or chocolate. This afternoon delight is afforded to the elite of society. The ivory is the handle to where you will pour your tea or coffee faucet.

3. Hannah Rowe summons the tea urn from Paul Revere. In the earliest were three known tea/coffee urns made by Paul Revere Jr. (American, Boston, Massachusetts 1734–1818 Boston, Massachusetts) dated April 20, 1791.

4. Hannah Rowe is a wealthy widow married to John Rowe (1715-1797). Her husband’s wealth was a developer and merchant. They played a role in the Boston Tea party, including he was a Member of the House of Representative Province of Massachusetts Bay, March 13, 1769-1769. Hannah Rowe requested a Tea Urn from Paul Revere, one of three large tea urns made by April 20, 1791.

In those days, the wealthy would have afternoon high tea, which started in the 1800s; the culture began in Europe. Today you will find afternoon tea in certain hotels or restaurants depending on the clients. However, it is not as prominent as it was in the 1800 century.
