I can remember the day you were born Aug 27th 1988, as I was sitting in the waiting room at the hospital:  the doctors brought you out of the delivery room and I saw you for the very first time.  You had one eye open, the other one closed with a great big smile on that little beautiful face!  When the doctor handed you to me for the very first time, how excited I was!  As you grew each day I loved you more and more as your Uncle.

We all lived together: your mom, sister (Erica), brother (Gary) and you, I would come home from work after mid-night and somehow you would wake up knowing when I walked in the door.  I would hear you make little noises and I would come to get you out of your bed, bring you downstairs to play and after a few hours we would fall asleep.  As your birthdays past, you started to grow and explore life.

Before we all knew it, it was your high school graduation.  The day of your graduation you made us all very proud but yet sad as we knew you will be spreading your wings to fly in life.  It was hard because we didn’t want to let that little girl go, as now we see you as a beautiful young lady.  As selfish as this may sound; we couldn’t let go.  We wanted to protect you to make sure you were safe but you disconnected yourself at times to be able to spread your wings.

The day we went for your college orientation, how excited I was for you and glad you would have to do all the work!  During your college years, there were obstacle and challenges in life with your Mom, Dad and his wife, yet you rose above it.  Even with all of this, you started to date your boyfriend.   A few years later the two of you got married.  Again, you have made us all very proud of you!  There are times you stood firm on your beliefs, not budging in either direction!  By taking a stand, you were showing us that you are growing in life to make your own decisions.  Sometime I said to you that you don’t love me but I knew you did.  I just wanted to get a rise out of you.  There are times it worked and other times it didn’t.  But remember one thing, Uncle loves you very much!

As you celebrate your accomplishment with family, friends and the ones who are not with us, you make us proud!

I love you,

Uncle
